The Franchisee then leases or subleases the fully equipped and stocked store from 7-Eleven, Inc. Many will sell gasoline and feature pay-at-the-pump credit card readers.

Franchisees and Licensees
By comparison, a licensee is a retailing organization that owns or leases several retail stores in markets where 7-Eleven, Inc. does not do business. Through a special agreement, the licensee uses the 7-Eleven trademark, sells proprietary products, and has the advantage of being part of a major international convenience retailing chain.
